Partners in Research: A Lasting Legacy

Founded in 1988, Partners In Research was a Canadian charity that helped students, educators, and the public understand the value of health and STEM research. Originally focused on biomedical education, PIR quickly expanded to include science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) as vital parts of student learning and national progress.

Through video conferencing, live events, and national outreach, PIR made it possible for students to talk directly to real scientists, ask questions, and get inspired — long before digital learning became mainstream.

Over its 30+ year history, PIR earned national recognition for educational innovation, launched Canada’s first Virtual Researcher On Call program and STEM Camp, which is still in operation today, helping thousands of students envision a future in STEM each summer.
